Researchers have proven stress makes you sick.  They say that during periods of stress, the immune system starts to fail and lets bacteria and viruses into the body.

Removing stress from our lives completely is difficult for most of us but just changing some parts of our life style will definitely help our minds, body and soul to relax and be refreshed. At least for a little while.

STRESS REDUCING BEHAVIOURS

  • Establish priorities in your life and stick to them
  • Give yourself time by yourself
  • Develop leisure activities in your life – at no or low cost
  • Ask for support from your network of family, friends
  • Plan to do one thing at a time
  • Eat healthy and nutritious foods
  • Exercise as much as possible or a little to start with
  • Practice relaxation, join a small community group for low cost
  • Have enough sleep
  • Avoid getting into ruts
  • Feel good about yourself
  • Set realistic goals and celebrate small milestones
  • Don’t overreact to situations
  • Use “could” and “want to” and remove the word “should”
  • Talk to someone about your problems, lighten the load
  • Cut down on caffeine, alcohol and nicotine
  • Practice saying “No”
